KVN KWIZIKL – Interschool Quiz Competition

Date: November 9th

Contestants: Grade 5 Students

Format: Prelims, Semifinals, and Finals

Venue: KVN CAMPUS


Objective:

The KVN KWIZIKL is designed to engage and challenge Grade 5 students from various schools, testing their knowledge across a range of subjects in a competitive yet friendly environment. The winning school will be awarded a rolling trophy, and the event will be held annually.


Rules and Regulations:

1. General Guidelines

  • Eligibility: The competition is open to all Grade 5 students born between 2013 and 2014. Each school can nominate one team consisting of 3 students.
  • Team Composition: Each team should comprise students from the same school. No substitutions or changes in team members will be allowed after registration.
  • Registration: Schools must register their teams by 30.10.2024. Late entries will not be entertained.

2. Structure of the Event

The event will consist of three stages:

  1. Prelims: All participating teams will appear for a written quiz. The top 12 teams will qualify for the semifinals.
  2. Semifinals: The 12 qualifying teams will be divided into two groups of 6. Each group will compete separately, and the top 3 teams from each group will advance to the finals.
  3. Finals: The 6 finalist teams will compete in a quiz round. The team with the highest score will be declared the winner and receive the rolling trophy.

 

3. Prelims (Written Round)

  • Format: A written quiz consisting of 100 objective type questions covering topics such as general knowledge, science, mathematics, current affairs, literature, and sports.
  • Duration: 60 minutes.
  • Scoring: Each correct answer will be awarded 1 point. There will be no negative marking.
  • Qualification: The top 12 teams with the highest scores will move on to the semifinals.

4. Semifinals (Oral Round)

  • Groupings: The 12 teams will be divided into two groups (Group A and Group B).
  • Format: The semifinal will consist of 6 rounds with questions from various categories such as:
    1. General Knowledge
    2. Science
    3. Mathematics
    4. Current Affairs
    5. Audio/Visual Round
    6. Rapid-Fire Round
  • Scoring:
    • Correct answers in regular rounds will be awarded 10 points.
    • Correct answers in the rapid-fire round will be awarded 5 points per correct answer.
    • There will be no negative marking for wrong answers.
  1. : The top 3 teams from each group, based on total scores, will qualify for the finals.

5. Finals (Oral Round)

  • The final round will have the top 6 teams from the semifinals.
  • Format: The final round will consist of 8 rounds, with categories such as:
    1. General Knowledge
    2. Science
    3. History & Geography
    4. Sports
    5. Literature
    6. Audio/Visual Round
    7. Buzzer Round
    8. Rapid-Fire Round

6. Scoring:

  1. rounds: 10 points per correct answer.
  1. round: 15 points for a correct answer and -5 points for an incorrect answer.
  1. round: 5 points per correct answer (no negative marking).
  1. Questions:
    • If a team is unable to answer a question, it will be passed to the other teams.
    • 5 points will be awarded to the team that answers the pass question correctly during regular rounds.
  2. team with the highest score at the end of all rounds will be declared the winner.

7. Tie-Breaker

  • In the case of a tie in the semifinals or finals, a set of 5 additional questions will be asked to the tied teams.
  • If the tie persists, a buzzer round will be conducted to determine the winner.

8. Conduct of Participants

  • Behavior: All participants are expected to display sportsmanship and maintain decorum throughout the competition.
  • Disqualification: Any team found engaging in unfair practices or violating the rules will be immediately disqualified.

9. Audience Participation

  • No prompting or interference from the audience will be tolerated.
  • Any interference may lead to the disqualification of the offending team.

10. Judges' Decision

  • The decision of the quizmasters and the judges will be final and binding in all matters related to the competition.

11. Prizes and Certificates

  • Rolling Trophy for the winning school, which must be returned for next year’s competition.
  • Certificates: All participating teams will receive medals and participation certificates, and the top 3 teams will receive special recognition.

12. Additional Instructions

  • Teams are required to report to the venue by 08:45 AM. Any team that arrives late may be disqualified.
  • Schools are encouraged to provide transportation for their students.
  • One teacher must accompany the students to ensure their safety and support during the event.
  • Contestants are required to bring their school ID card to the event. Students without an ID card will not be allowed to participate.
